    • Instructor

      Bradley Buser

Founder Radius International, San Diego CA

Brad came to faith in Christ at 17 and soon after was challenged with the need of unreached people groups. He began training for this directly after High School. Beth is from St. Johns MI., her Mom and Dad love the Lord Jesus and raised her with a heart for the world. They met, had two boys and left for Papua New Guinea in January of 1979. Soon after arriving they moved in among the Iteri people who live in the headwaters of the Sepik River Basin. After 4 years of studying the language and culture of the Iteri people they were fluent and began to share Christ with them for the first time. The baby church was discipled and in a few years leaders were ordained. The Busers worked on the New Testament translation and by 1999, after 20 years in the village, with the translation done, the church up and thriving, their need to be among the Iteris was over. Upon returning from PNG he and other men saw the need for appropriate training for missionaries who would be sent to Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists. In 2010 he helped found Radius International as a ministry to do such training. Radius is currently the largest training program for those going into Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist and Tribal peoples. For those who desire to do church planting among the least reached it is the premier training available.

God's pressed His purpose forward until the present hour of amazing opportunity. Understanding the concept of "unreached peoples" to assess the remaining task. Recognizing the imbalance of mission resources shapes strategic priorities. How Shall They Hear?

Culture and intercultural communication of the gospel. Communicating the gospel with relevance at the worldview level helps avoid syncretism (blending of cultural error with God?s truth) and also enables powerful movements of the gospel. Sensitive missionaries will look for ways that God has preserved or prepared people to hear the gospel, often finding redemptive analogies for God's truth.

    • Instructor

      Jeremy Kim

      Engage Global, Saint Paul MN

Jeremy and his wife, Renee, have been the Twin Cities Coordinators for the Perspectives course for the past decade. Through Perspectives, they were awakened to God's heart to receive worship from all the nations of the earth. Multiple exposures to the unreached people groups in multiple countries, as well as ministering to international students and refugees, only solidified their desire to serve the global Church in completing the Great Commission. The Kims are blessed to serve with Engage Global, a missions mobilization agency that aims to equip churches in planting more churches in the least-reached areas of the world. Before joining Engage Global, Jeremy was a supervisor at a mental health clinic where more than 15 languages were spoken daily. Jeremy is also humbled to be able to serve as the Elder of Global Outreach at New City of Nations Church, a local multi-ethnic body where more than a dozen nations gather to worship. Jeremy and Renee's heart is to see the Bride of Christ be in full obedience to Christ’s Mandate for the nations.

Explore the intricacy of identification in another culture. Explore the even greater complexity of presenting identity with integrity in a globalized, terrorized, pluralized world. Recognizing the dynamics of social structure in order to initiate growing movements of ongoing communication throughout the society.

    • Instructor

      Philemon Yong

      Saint Anthony MN

Philemon grew up in the Kom tribe, Cameroon. His parents were both Christians, and church was a regular part of their lives. Yet, at the same time, Philemon observed a strange mix where traditional religion was still also a part of life—even of many in the church! At age 13, with his family unable to send him to more schooling, Philemon left home to go to the city to find some jobs that would give him a better life. When he was 23, through a friend Philemon was led to attend Cameroon Baptist Theological Seminary, Ndu. This began his training for ministry. Linda was a short-termer at CBTS that year, and they developed a very strong friendship. As a result, Philemon came to the USA, and he and Linda were married the following year. Bethel College accepted Philemon, and after completing his bachelor’s degree he continued on to earn a Masters of Divinity degree at Bethel Seminary (St. Paul). A year of short-term ministry back at CBTS fueled the desire to eventually return to Cameroon as a full-time teacher/theologian. This led Philemon to pursue Ph.D. work at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. From 2003-2010, Philemon has been teaching many courses at CBTS, solidly equipping future church leaders to preach and practice that Christ alone is the source for power and guidance in their lives. He also has a desire to write materials that will be helpful to the church in Cameroon/Africa. His unique preparation—knowing the culture firsthand and having solid theological training—equip Philemon to do this in an excellent way. Philemon has experienced firsthand the confusing mix of Christianity and spiritism in the African church. He realizes that many church leaders have little theological training. Those with some training are trying to use a Western approach to theology in the African context, where the questions and problems call for a more African approach. His experiences, combined with his extensive theological studies in the USA, have put in him a desire for theological education in Africa. Philemon and his wife Linda live in Minnesota. They have three children, Benjamin, Samuel, and Anna.

    • Lesson 13

      The Spontaneous Multiplication of Churches

Look beyond institutional features of churches to understand churches as dynamic movements of Christ Himself being followed. Such a view of churches as organic, living things opens up the practicality of seeing them multiply rapidly as movements and also flourish in society bearing the fruit of social transformation. Churches as counter-communities, acting as salt and light, bringing change to their cultures. How movements multiply by connecting with entire families and larger social structures.

    • Instructor

      Dan Farr

      Circle Pines MN

Dan, his wife Kelly and their 3 children work with Engage Global and minister among immigrants, refugees, and international students in the United States in Minneapolis, MN. We mobilize churches, train disciples, and send out those disciples all over the world to reach the unreached peoples of the world. Our heart is to get the Western Church impassioned to see how they can be a part of the great commission by welcoming unreached people groups to the U.S, and getting involved in the lives of those who up until this point have been left without a witness to the Love that is Jesus Christ. Our passion is to reach out and help newcomers that have recently arrived in the US by helping with English, tutoring, paperwork, job placement, etc. Many of these internationals have escaped persecution, genocide, and political unrest. By training people here to meet the physical needs of those coming from overseas, we can meet their even greater spiritual needs. The goal is to share the gospel and help develop full devoted followers of Christ. We have hope of seeing those that have entered into the Kingdom return to their home countries as apostolic leaders where still 1.9 Billion people remain without the Good News of Christ. Prior to coming to Minneapolis our family spent 4 years in Oaxaca, Mexico reaching out to the unreached Indigenous Mixteco people groups, then the last 5 years working in very diverse US cities training the local church and indigenous believers to reach out to those coming to America. The goal and passion of our organization is to see Matthew 24:14 come to pass and that all unreached peoples of this earth will have the opportunity to hear the Gospel of this Kingdom.
