    Steve Hawthorne serves as the director of WayMakers, a prayer and mission mobilization organization in Austin, Texas. He's the author of the widely used prayer guide called Seek God for the City. After co-editing the course and the book Perspectives on the World Christian Movement in 1981, he launched “Joshua Project,” a series of research expeditions among unreached peoples in world class cities. He co-authored, with Graham Kendrick, the book Prayerwalking: Praying On-Site With Insight. He has helped leaders in numerous cities unite and sustain life-giving prayer for entire communities. With humor and seasoned wisdom, he speaks with living passion for the greater glory of Jesus. He says of his ministry, “I like to commit arson of the heart.”

    Currently, Chris serves as the Missional Living Pastor at Grace Presbyterian Church in Houston, TX. He also serves as the Moderator of the local presbytery’s Ministry Partnership Team of the Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians denomination. He received his Masters of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2005. He contributes much of his discipleship and development to a few congregations including La Canada Presbyterian Church just outside of Pasadena, CA, First Covenant Church in Oakland, CA, and Community Presbyterian Church in Ventura, CA. He has lived in Houston for almost 10 years. He has been married for nearly 19 years to his beautiful bride, Amy and they have three daughters – Natalie, Jenna, and Sophia. He loves coaching, drinking coffee, and all things outside. He is currently coaching two softball teams which his daughters play.

    Stephen Vannah is an ordained pastor, has been the field leader for SIM in Senegal for about ten years. He is presently the Northeastern Regional Director for SIM. He and his wife live in Western MA. They have two daughters. He holds a Masters in New Testament Studies, an MDiv. and a DMin. His current responsibilities involve a considerable amount of traveling to churches, Christian colleges and institutions to preach, teach seminars and workshops on missions, leadership and synergetic teamwork. He joined Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1998 and served as a Bible translator in Southeast Asia. He also served as the director of Korean Church Engagement and provided missions education and training.     I grew up as a missionary kid in Venezuela and Ecuador. Missions have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. In May of 2014, while preparing to go overseas as missionaries, our 3-month-old daughter Zoe passed away from SIDS. We continued forward with our plans to move to Ecuador as missionaries and moved in October 2014. We stayed there for 2.5 years focused on discipleship multiplication. While we loved our years in Ecuador, we realized that God was changing our hearts. He was beginning to shift our hearts from rapid multiplications to caring for the souls of people. We moved back to Texas in April of 2017 and founded Hope Family Care Ministries (HFC) in September of that year, a ministry focused on supporting child loss families. Since the founding of the ministry, HFC has supported over 500 families around the United States and now in Latin America as well.

    Texas Christian Community Development Network, Waco TX

    Jimmy & Janet Dorrell moved into an low-income neighborhood in Waco, TX, in 1978, and founded and is now president emeritus of Mission Waco, a large urban Christian community development organization with 16 programs and 80 staff, with work among the addicted, unemployed, homeless, sick, illiterate and unchurched. In 1992, The Dorrells planted Church Under the Bridge in 1992 as an outdoor church meeting under the Interstate 35 and S. 4th Street underpass (currently meeting at the Magnolia Silos until Summer 2022). As pastor, the church now has 275 very diverse attendees. Dorrell also founded the statewide Texas Christian Community Development Network. As an adjunct professor at Truett Theological Seminary and Baylor, he teaches Christian community development, missions, and community engagement classes. Dorrell has written four books, including "Commonwealth: Transformation through Christian Community Development;" "Dead Church Walking," "Trolls and Truth" and "Plunge2Poverty." The couple, married 43 years, also continue to work in Haiti, India, and MxCity. They have four children (one deceased) and 10 grandchildren.
