WHAT is Perspectives?

Perspectives on the World Christian Movement is a catalytic course designed to equip the people of God to partner with Him in His mission to reach all peoples, tongues, tribes, and nations. It presents the biblical, historical, cultural, and strategic aspects of fulfilling the Great Commission. We encourage anyone who is serious about gaining a deeper understanding of God’s ultimate purpose in the world to attend this course.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Perspectives seeks to reveal the nature of God's heart to be worshipped by all nations, and that we are called to be a part of HIS purpose regardless of whether we feel called to serve overseas, at home or in our own work place. It's about a deeper understanding of who God is, what He's about, and how we are ALL called to be a part of it. Throughout the 15 weeks, students will learn about God’s nature, His purpose, and how He uses ordinary people like us to bring the glory to His name.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

What Will the Course Entail?

Classes will be held weekly and will include lectures from 15 dynamic instructors from diverse backgrounds, interactive learning experiences, and creative demonstrations. Homework assignments are specifically designed to engage every aspect of a Christian’s life and to encourage students to see how they can utilize their own unique abilities to advance the Kingdom locally, nationally, and internationally. The course will require dedication but it will be well worth the 4 short months and will change your life!

Look beyond institutional features of churches to understand churches as dynamic movements of Christ Himself being followed. Such a view of churches as organic, living things opens up the practicality of seeing them multiply rapidly as movements and also flourish in society bearing the fruit of social transformation. Churches as counter-communities, acting as salt and light, bringing change to their cultures. How movements multiply by connecting with entire families and larger social structures.

      Roy Moran

      Shoal Creek, Liberty MO

Roy is on the board of directors of Beyond and Cityteam, he is founder of Shoal Creek Community Church, DiscipleKC and the DMM Collaborative. Thomas Nelson published Roy's first book Spent Matches where he describes the integration of disciple making movements into the heart of a western church. He was born in Tokyo, Japan and graduated from high school in Honolulu Hawaii. That vagabond lifestyle can be blamed on the United States Air Force which Roy’s dad Ed served for 30 years. Roy is a graduate of Baylor University and Dallas Theological Seminary. In 1988 Roy moved to KC and worked in the HQ of FCA for four years. Leaving FCA Roy his wife Candy and a group of 4 others started Shoal Creek Community Church where Roy currently serves as the directional leader and spiritual literacy advocate. Roy is madly in love with Candy his wife of 39 years and golf, in that order! He has 4 grown and married children and ten beautiful grand children all living in the KC area and vitally connected to Jesus. The theme of Roy’s life can be described as an addiction to creating disciple making movements (DMM). Over the past 10 years he has traveled to world studying the great movements of the gospel in Indonesia, India, Africa, South America and Europe. These travels have lead to the development of a Hybrid Strategy at Shoal Creek and the dedication to see movements of disciple making in the US begin out of Kansas City.
