    Brad came to faith in Christ at 17 and soon after was challenged with the need of unreached people groups. He began training for this directly after High School. Beth is from St. Johns MI., her Mom and Dad love the Lord Jesus and raised her with a heart for the world. They met, had two boys and left for Papua New Guinea in January of 1979. Soon after arriving they moved in among the Iteri people who live in the headwaters of the Sepik River Basin. After 4 years of studying the language and culture of the Iteri people they were fluent and began to share Christ with them for the first time. The baby church was discipled and in a few years leaders were ordained. The Busers worked on the New Testament translation and by 1999, after 20 years in the village, with the translation done, the church up and thriving, their need to be among the Iteris was over. Upon returning from PNG he and other men saw the need for appropriate training for missionaries who would be sent to Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists. In 2010 he helped found Radius International as a ministry to do such training. Radius is currently the largest training program for those going into Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist and Tribal peoples. For those who desire to do church planting among the least reached it is the premier training available.

    Exploring God's purpose regarding evil: How God has accomplished a defeat of evil powers in order to open a season of history in which the nations can freely follow Christ. The kingdom of God as the destiny of all history. Christ's mission seeks a hindering of evil to bring about a sign of the coming peace of the kingdom of God. Our prayers contend with evil in order to bring about the transformation of society with Christ's kingdom in view.

    Dr. George Gilchrist is a Presbyterian Pastor who has served in Youth Ministry, Cross-Cultural Missions and as Head of Staff in churches in Maryland, California, and Alaska. For over three decades, he and his wife, Margie, have led annual short-term mission teams to Mexico, Europe and Albania. George has written a manual for a six-week study for short- term teams to be effective in a cross-cultural setting relative to country’s/people group’s history, culture, geography and language. Since 2003, he has been serving as an Interim/Transitional pastor in the San Francisco Bay Area. Currently, he and Margie live in Issaquah, Washington where he serves as Church Liaison for Alongside Ministries International, which serves churches in Europe.

    Healing Nations , Rye CO

    Shane helps Christians love Muslims and Muslims love Jesus. He has served in missions mobilization since 1987, recruiting, training, and sending short term research teams. He's been on teams in Bangkok, Bombay, and Turkey and he's lived among Muslim migrants in Europe. Shane writes a weekly email called Muslim Connect that helps Christians think about Muslims the way God does and love them like Jesus does. He works with Healing Nations and he and his family live in southern Colorado.

    Richard Nakamura was born and raised in a Buddhist home in Seattle, WA. At the age of 19 (1979), Richard received Christ through the influence of his older brother, who converted a year earlier. Richard joined SEND International in 1988 and served as a church planter in Japan until 2011. He is now doing a Japanese Diaspora Ministry outreach out of Fort Worth, TX. through SEND International and RJC (Reaching Japanese for Christ).

    Darrell Dorr was Perspectives Director 1980-1982 and an associate editor of the first edition of the Perspectives Reader. He has been a missionary with Frontier Ventures since 1980, specializing in communications, and has been on assignment with various other organizations and projects, including Frontiers, Operation World, the Adopt-a-People Clearinghouse, and the Center for the Study of Global Christianity.

    How Shall They Hear?

    Culture and intercultural communication of the gospel. Communicating the gospel with relevance at the worldview level helps avoid syncretism (blending of cultural error with God?s truth) and also enables powerful movements of the gospel. Sensitive missionaries will look for ways that God has preserved or prepared people to hear the gospel, often finding redemptive analogies for God's truth.

    Scott trusted in Jesus Christ as a university student in 1981. He has been studying and teaching the Word of God and sharing the gospel since that time. He was associate pastor in Duluth, MN for many years and now directs the Alaska Christian Ministry to Seafarers. He has preached the gospel and taught the Word of God in churches, Bible studies, prisons, Bible schools, ships and foreign countries. He and his wife Beth live in Seward, Alaska.

Churches as counter-communities, acting as salt and light, bringing change to their cultures. How movements multiply by connecting with entire families and larger social structures.

    Brian Hogan

    Disciple Making Mentors, Fayetteville AR

    Brian and Louise Hogan have served in mission since 1987. From the Navajo Tribe to Outer Mongolia, their passion has been to see Jesus glorified and lifted up among those who have never known Him. From 1993-1996 their team pioneered a church planting movement in Erdenet (AIR-DUH-NET), Mongolia that continues to grow under fully indigenous leadership to this day. Their Mongolian disciples are now training and sending out their own missionaries to other unreached people groups. The story of the work in Erdenet can be read in Brian’s book: There’s a Sheep in my Bathtub (Asteroidea Books), and in the case study article – “Distant Thunder: Mongols Follow the Khan of Khans” – on page 695 of your Perspectives Reader.
