She lived in Central Asia for ten years, where she planted churches among three people groups, two of whom are Muslim. She earned an MA and PhD in Linguistics (i.e. Bible Translation) from the University of Texas at Arlington. She has published numerous books and articles in missions. She is most well known as “The Stick Figure Lady” for her popular book “Stick Figures Save the World.”

      Your Kingdom Come

      Exploring God's purpose regarding evil: How God has accomplished a defeat of evil powers in order to open a season of history in which the nations can freely follow Christ. The kingdom of God as the destiny of all history. Christ's mission seeks a hindering of evil to bring about a sign of the coming peace of the kingdom of God. Our prayers contend with evil in order to bring about the transformation of society with Christ's kingdom in view.

      Dave Shive is a 1968 graduate of the Washington Bible College, a 1972 graduate of Capital Bible Seminary with a Th.M. in New Testament Studies, and a 1994 graduate of Baltimore Hebrew University with an M.A. in Biblical Literature. Dave has spent the past 47 years in full time ministry as a pastor, Christian school director, and college professor. He currently serves with Frontier Ventures (formerly the US Center for World Mission) as a missions mobilizer for the northeast region of the United States. Dave lives in Catonsville, MD, with Kathy, his wife of 52 years. Dave and Kathy have three married children, Dan, Mike, and Becky. They are also the proud grandparents of 9 grandsons and 2 granddaughters.

      Mark Baxter is the visionary leader of Youth With A Mission Jacksonville, Florida. Mark and Janet started the base in January 2001 because they are passionate about taking the Gospel to places where it isn't. They have 3 children - Daniel, Kathleen, and Jennifer along with 8 grandchildren. Mark has ministered in over 130 nations and he, Janet, and their youngest child lived in Harbin, China teaching English and planted a church among unreached people in 2008/09. Mark is on YWAM's international frontier missions leadership team, is the missions pastor at Redeemer Church, and is part of the NoPLaceLeft network in Jacksonville.

      Michael is Co-Founder/Board Member of Peace Catalyst International and Leader with New King Church. Michael was born and raised in a Chinese-Cambodian refugee home after his parents escaped the horrors of the Khmer Rouge regime. Growing up in a Christian and Ancestral-Buddhist home, Michael started following the teachings of Jesus at a young age. Professionally, Michael is currently CEO of ReconciledIt.com. Michael and his wife Shannon moved to Seattle in 2007 to begin peacemaking work among Christian and Muslim communities in the Puget Sound. In November 2011, they relocated to Burlington, VT to continue ministry work in New England.

      Wycliffe Bible Translators, Lancaster SC

      Andy Ott was born and raised in Bolivia, South America. His parents were in the process of translating the Scriptures for the Ignaciano people of central Bolivia. He grew up seeing the impact that the translated Scripture had on individuals, families, communities, and cultures. Andy and his family moved to Peru, South America in 1993 with Wycliffe/JAARS to help provide safe, quick, reliable transportation in and out of remote jungle locations in support of Bible translation. Then in 2000, they moved back to the Wycliffe USA Headquarters to work in recruiting the needed personnel to make Vision 2025 become a reality! He has been mobilizing and recruiting ever since! Andy is husband to one wife, Jan, and father to two adult children, Daniel (married to Danielle) and Hannah. We enjoy having them near, especially since we now have a grandbaby, Caleb! However, we know that will not always be so, since we hope to go back overseas before the Task is complete, and Christ returns!

      David Gadoury served as Lead Pastor of the Cranston Christian Fellowship for 42 years, a missions focused church that invested heavily in its global partners and directly engaged in numerous projects among the world's unreached peoples. He and his wife have ministered to cross-cultural workers in nine foreign countries. In 2017 he became Executive Director of TOGETHER, a multi-church, multi-denominational partnership formed in 2010 to advance the gospel in the greater Rhode Island area.

      How Shall They Hear?

      Culture and intercultural communication of the gospel. Communicating the gospel with relevance at the worldview level helps avoid syncretism (blending of cultural error with God?s truth) and also enables powerful movements of the gospel. Sensitive missionaries will look for ways that God has preserved or prepared people to hear the gospel, often finding redemptive analogies for God's truth.

      Sue Patt has worked as a mobilizer for more than 40 years (since 1982) with Frontier Ventures, formerly the US Center for World Mission. She has served as a Perspectives Regional Director (13 years) and as the Perspectives National Program Director (7 years). Her current assignment is Chief Strategy Officer with FV. She has been developing deliberate friendships with Muslims since 1980, and Hindus since 2005. She is married to Fran Patt since 1986. They have 3 adult children and live in Exton, PA in the Philadelphia suburbs.

      Robert has worked in Church-planting and Development work in Central Asia in a war torn country 15 of the last 20 years. He and his wife and 3 children have led Frontiers Church-planting teams in new areas most of that time. Rob has an MA in World Christianity from Denver Seminary and teaches Christians insights useful in understanding Islam/Muslims in the world today. He did MDiv. studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, is a Doctor of Ministry program there and is Assistant Director of the Dr J Christy Wilson Jr. Center for World Missions and an adjunct professor at Gordon Conwell. He works with Frontiers and with EPC World Outreach consulting on ministry among Muslims.

      Look beyond institutional features of churches to understand churches as dynamic movements of Christ Himself being followed. Churches as counter-communities, acting as salt and light, bringing change to their cultures. How movements multiply by connecting with entire families and larger social structures.

      Andy Minch is an Associate editor for the Perspective's Reader 5th edition and a 5 star instructor. He has instructed well over 100 Perspectives lessons over the past 30 years. He has spent 20 years working as a Bible translator in Papua New Guinea with Wycliffe Bible Translators. For eleven years he was an international administrator helping oversee about 20% of the world's remaining translation needs. Presently he is part of Wycliffe’s National Speaker’s bureau speaking on college campuses and other venues. He is author of the book 'Words Can Not Express'.

      Rev. James Cha was born in Korea, but grew up here in the US. He studied electrical engineering at Cornell University, and worked ten years as an engineer. In 2000 he and his wife, Faith, took their 3 kids to Central Asia, where they served ten years as church planting missionaries with Pioneers. They are now back in the US reaching out to the Muslims in the Washington, DC area. James & Faith are Washington DC Area Coordinators for Crescent Project. They also direct ESL ministry in Leesburg, VA. They have three adult children and one grandchild. James recently published a book about their missions journey - Fear Not: Living a Life of No Regrets.
