    Steve Hawthorne serves as the director of WayMakers, a prayer and mission mobilization organization in Austin, Texas. He's the author of the widely used prayer guide called Seek God for the City. After co-editing the course and the book Perspectives on the World Christian Movement in 1981, he launched “Joshua Project,” a series of research expeditions among unreached peoples in world class cities. He co-authored, with Graham Kendrick, the book Prayerwalking: Praying On-Site With Insight. He has helped leaders in numerous cities unite and sustain life-giving prayer for entire communities. With humor and seasoned wisdom, he speaks with living passion for the greater glory of Jesus. He says of his ministry, “I like to commit arson of the heart.”

    Garry Morgan is Professor Emeritus of Intercultural Studies and former Director of Global Initiatives at the University of Northwestern- St. Paul, where he taught from 1999-2016. Prior to that, he spent 18 years in Kenya, serving in a variety of ministry settings. He is the author of Understanding World Religions in Fifteen Minutes a Day, published by Baker.     After Doug served a pastor in Eugene, OR where God called him into missions through one of his own messages! He and his family served in Congo, Africa and after several life shaping events, including the results of the Rwanda genocide, they returned to the U.S. Doug was asked by WorldVenture to take the Northwest Regional Mission Director position where he served until January, 2015 when he was appointed National Director of Mobilizing Prayer for WorldVenture. In that role, he led a prayer team devoted to praying and implementing the truth of Matthew 9:36-38. He and his wife, Ruth, have four grown kids with 17 grandchildren and in 2015 adopted "arrows" for God to use in expanding the gospel. Doug now is retired from WorldVenture and his family lives in Elkton, Oregon and serve in an associate pastor position at Elkton Baptist Church.

    How Shall They Hear?

    Culture and intercultural communication of the gospel. Communicating the gospel with relevance at the worldview level helps avoid syncretism (blending of cultural error with God?s truth) and also enables powerful movements of the gospel. Sensitive missionaries will look for ways that God has preserved or prepared people to hear the gospel, often finding redemptive analogies for God's truth.

Her primary focus in these organizations included leadership and business development, strategic planning, research and development, innovation and creativity. She became "known" in these organizations for her heart for the Gospel through her daily walk in these high paced and demanding environments. Her passion for Christ took her on a 30-year journey of adventure as she walked on burning coals, assisted with eye clinics in Mexico, participated in medical relief efforts in Bolivia, planted pioneer businesses in Asia and Africa, came face to face with the persecuted church in Orissa, and served widows in the rainforest of Panama. Now she is committed full time to taking the Gospel to the nations through Pioneer Business Planting, building Kingdom businesses, and gobalization!

They have served in groundbreaking church planting work among completely unreached peoples, as well as in mobilizing and training existing proximate believers. On the field, Tessa filled many roles, from disciplemaker to languaculture coach to homeschooling mom to educational administration. Nowadays, Tessa and Tony invest in the next generation of church planters, training and imparting ministry skills to those who are going long-term to the Muslim world.
