In it, you will have your eyes opened to the heart and purpose of God, and how you can take part in His work all over the world, from the urban streets of America to the rain forest and deserts of distant lands. A fantastic array of pastors, theologians, international missiologists and mobilizers will challenge and inspire you to see just how big God is, and how much He desires that all might come to know Him. Whether you are single, married, a student, a homemaker, a professional or retired, Perspectives will bless and challenge your life and direction.

Tim is a third-cultural adult having grown up in the Congo where his parents were missionaries with Africa Inter-Mennonite Mission. Tim went to school at Taylor University and met his wife Laura, also a child of missionaries from Cameroon, at Trinity Divinity School. Tim and Laura served as missionaries in the Congo and Botswana for 20 years. They came to Grace in 2006 where Tim is currently the Pastor of Missions and Pastoral Care. They have three adult children. Tim loves campfires, motorcycles, reading, food, God’s Word, and being with people. b

Andy has been Sr. Pastor at Christ Community Church of Gridley since 2009, where he had been youth pastor since 2005. He attended Taylor University (B.A. Biblical Literature), Urbana Theological Seminary (M.A. Religion), and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min, Applied Theology). He first took Perspectives in 2007 with his wife, Abby, and since those days they've added four children to their family: Elly (9), Silas (8), Mercy (8) and Hudson (6). They enjoy riding bikes, jumping on the trampoline, and playing Ticket to Ride as a family. They hope to encourage their children and church family to joyful, faithful participation in the commission of Jesus to make disciples of all nations. b

Your Kingdom Come
Exploring God's purpose regarding evil: How God has accomplished a defeat of evil powers in order to open a season of history in which the nations can freely follow Christ. The kingdom of God as the destiny of all history. Christ's mission seeks a hindering of evil to bring about a sign of the coming peace of the kingdom of God. Our prayers contend with evil in order to bring about the transformation of society with Christ's kingdom in view.

Dr. Manohar James holds a Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies from Asbury Theological Seminary, USA. He is currently serving as a Minister of Intercultural Ministry at High Point Church, Madison, WI. As an adjunct professor, he teaches at Alliance Theological Seminary (NY, USA), The Alliance Institute for Mission (Sydney, Australia), Mission India Theological Seminary (Nagpur, India), and Christian Life College (Madison, WI).
Before coming to the US for higher education, he served in India for 15 years as an evangelist, church planter, and seminary professor. While church planting in Himachal Pradesh (India) he suffered severe beatings twice for the sake of preaching the gospel and bringing people to Christ. He is the founder of Serving Alongside International (www.ServingAlongside.org), a non-profit Christian organization in the USA which annually trains about 1200 indigenous pastors in India. He often travels to India to train pastors.

The climactic act of the book of Acts is the freeing of the gospel to be followed by Gentiles without Jewish traditions as a requirement. Brian Hogan
Disciple Making Mentors, Fayetteville AR
Brian and Louise Hogan have served in mission since 1987. From the Navajo Tribe to Outer Mongolia, their passion has been to see Jesus glorified and lifted up among those who have never known Him.
From 1993-1996 their team pioneered a church planting movement in Erdenet (AIR-DUH-NET), Mongolia that continues to grow under fully indigenous leadership to this day. Their Mongolian disciples are now training and sending out their own missionaries to other unreached people groups. The story of the work in Erdenet can be read in Brian’s book: There’s a Sheep in my Bathtub (Asteroidea Books), and in the case study article – “Distant Thunder: Mongols Follow the Khan of Khans” – on page 695 of your Perspectives Reader. b

Lesson 10
How Shall They Hear?
Culture and intercultural communication of the gospel. Communicating the gospel with relevance at the worldview level helps avoid syncretism (blending of cultural error with God?s truth) and also enables powerful movements of the gospel. Sensitive missionaries will look for ways that God has preserved or prepared people to hear the gospel, often finding redemptive analogies for God's truth.

She lived in Central Asia for ten years, where she planted churches among three people groups, two of whom are Muslim. She earned an MA and PhD in Linguistics (i.e. Bible Translation) from the University of Texas at Arlington. She has published numerous books and articles in missions. She is most well known as “The Stick Figure Lady” for her popular book “Stick Figures Save the World.” b

The Spontaneous Multiplication of Churches
Look beyond institutional features of churches to understand churches as dynamic movements of Christ Himself being followed.
