      Disciple Making Mentors, Fayetteville AR

      Brian and Louise Hogan have served in mission since 1987. From the Navajo Tribe to Outer Mongolia, their passion has been to see Jesus glorified and lifted up among those who have never known Him. From 1993-1996 their team pioneered a church planting movement in Erdenet (AIR-DUH-NET), Mongolia that continues to grow under fully indigenous leadership to this day. Their Mongolian disciples are now training and sending out their own missionaries to other unreached people groups. The story of the work in Erdenet can be read in Brian’s book: There’s a Sheep in my Bathtub (Asteroidea Books), and in the case study article – “Distant Thunder: Mongols Follow the Khan of Khans” – on page 695 of your Perspectives Reader.

      Stan and his wife, Valli, served full-time with World Partners since 1978. Valli passed away in November 2021 after a long battle with M.S. Their experience includes 10 years of church planting and curative medical work in Sierra Leone, West Africa among the Yalunka People; 3 years at the US Center as Administrative Director for the Adopt-a-People Clearinghouse; 3 years mobilizing churches to adopt unreached people groups; 2 years training students at Bethel College, Mishawaka, IN; 4 years coaching workers in Africa and the Middle East; and 16 years reaching out to Middle Wast refugees in Kansas City, Missouri. They moved to Maquoketa, Iowa in October 2018 and will begin a new ministry to Middle East students. Stan will continue to serve with World Partners as a traveling evangelist among Muslims and instructor for Perspectives.

      Andy Minch is an Associate editor for the Perspective's Reader 5th edition and a 5 star instructor. He has instructed well over 100 Perspectives lessons over the past 30 years. He has spent 20 years working as a Bible translator in Papua New Guinea with Wycliffe Bible Translators. For eleven years he was an international administrator helping oversee about 20% of the world's remaining translation needs. Presently he is part of Wycliffe’s National Speaker’s bureau speaking on college campuses and other venues. He is author of the book 'Words Can Not Express'.

      Bob Oehrig, was the Missions Pastor at Grace Church Roseville from 2001-2011, and the Executive Director of Arrive Ministries (formerly World Relief Minnesota) from 2011-2020 resettling and serving refugees in the Twin Cities. Bob has two MA degrees in Cross-Cultural Communications (Wheaton College) and Missiology (Fuller Theological Seminary). Bob served on the faculty and administration at Daystar University, Nairobi, Kenya for 24 years teaching in the areas of Intercultural Studies, Islamics and Cross-Cultural Communications. He has traveled to more than 55 countries and has led church teams to Macedonia, Ukraine, Guatemala, Mexico, Bolivia, Kenya and India. Bob is married to Donna, the daughter of missionaries to Liberia. They have 5 children, including two adopted sons.

      How Shall They Hear?

      Culture and intercultural communication of the gospel. Communicating the gospel with relevance at the worldview level helps avoid syncretism (blending of cultural error with God?s truth) and also enables powerful movements of the gospel. Sensitive missionaries will look for ways that God has preserved or prepared people to hear the gospel, often finding redemptive analogies for God's truth.

Tim is a farm boy from Nebraska who has a Bible college degree and a Masters in College Student Affairs from Azusa Pacific University. He has ministry experience in North America, Europe and several African countries. When he’s not hanging out with his African brothers and sisters he can be found in junk shops and antiquing.

      Jim and his wife Marilyn served as missionaries in Cameroon for 20 years, translating the Tupurri New Testament, teaching, preaching, and doing administrative work for both the mission and the African church. In 1995, they returned to the US and pastored a church in Mayville, ND for 5 ½ years. After Mayville, they moved to Fergus Falls where Jim served for 6 years in the Lutheran Brethren International Missions as Assistant to the Director for Africa missions. In this capacity, he helped launch the mission to reach unreached people groups in Chad. In November 2006, Jim and Marilyn moved to Fullerton, CA where he served in a congregation as lead pastor for 11 years. They both retired from full time ministry in August of 2017. Jim and Marilyn have 4 sons. All of them are married and we have 7 grandchildren

      Efi Tembon is from Southern Cameroons. He is married to Mindy and they have three kids. Efi has an MA in Organizational Leadership from Crown College in MN and a BA in History from the University of Yaoundé. He serves as the Executive Director of the Oasis Network for Community Transformation, a ministry serving communities in the Sahel in Africa. Efi has previously served in a variety of capacities: as Co-facilitator of the Impact Conference of Global South Organizations, an initiative that brings together organizations from Asia and Africa to share best practices; Executive Director, Cameroon Association for Bible Translation and Literacy (CABTAL) 2012-2018; Facilitator of the Platform for Impact in Cameroon, an informal initiative that brings together the various denominational blocks and Bible translation agencies to serve communities in Cameroon, 2013- 2018; President of FOBA - Cameroon (Forum of Bible Agencies Cameroon, which brings together 9 Bible Agencies and a denomination in Cameroon), 2012-2016; and Church Relations Director for SIL and CABTAL, 2008-2012.

      Tim Lubinus and his family served in South Korea for six years in student ministry with the International Mission Board and ten years as team leader for the IMB in Turkey. Then after serving on staff at Cornerstone Church in Ames, Iowa as the Global Ministry Director for eight years, Tim became the Executive Director for the Baptist Convention of Iowa in March, 2014. Darlene and Tim have four children.
